Hurrah!!! Orion walked by himself yesterday! He was so excited to walk that when he and his dad went to HEB for some groceries, he did not want his wheelchair but instead held onto the grocery cart and walked! Of course, Matthew had to stay right behind him and it made the little shopping they did a bit harder on Matthew, but it was worth it! By the time he got home, he was exhausted but what a day for him!!
Tonight when I stopped by, Matthew had to get after Orion for trying to walk when an adult wasn't present, even if Orion was on the carpet in the living room. His equilibrium is still off a bit and it would be a worry if he fell.
Wow, he has come such a long way!! And in no small part, because of your prayers. Thanks so very much! Just to think that when we were in Costa Rica, the doctors there knew it was an AVM but sadly told us that Orion had less than a 25% chance of even living, much less getting well and having a normal life. Talk about beating the odds! Whew! How very blessed we are with this remarkable little boy! Apparently, there are very few statistics concerning children who survive this type of medical problem. Thank you, God, that Orion has been given back to us, fighting and surviving. Actually, more than just surviving, he is so very much alive and full of life. He is living proof that none of us should ever give up on life. There is a reason each of us is here. And I know we have to always help each other and always pray for each other. Look what it has done for Ri! Again, I thank you so much but ask you to continue. The babe still has a way to go.
My gratitude and love to you and my prayers for you always! Orion's Nana Colleen
